Bagdad Al-Adhamiya
In January 2011 Uberbau was invited together with five other local as well as foreign architecture firms to the ongoing competition on the Masterplan for the historic Sunni neighbourhood of Al-Adhamiya in Baghdad. After the competition
on the Al-Khadimiya neighbourhood in 2010 it is the second large international competition carried out by the Mayoralty of Baghdad after the war.
The brief focuses on the development of the neighbourhood’s riverfront, its connection to the Shia neighbourhood of Al-Khadimiya and the city centre and puts emphasis on the development of public spaces and architecture around strategic locations, especially around the famous Abu Hanifa Mosque.
